The dog in this story lives with his family in Tujunga, California. He was sleeping outside their home and attached to a leash in one corner. At four in the morning, the surveillance camera caught a mountain lion.
They saw the massive mountain lion slowly creep across the front yard. It was going straight for the sleeping dog. The dog had no warning that his life was in danger.
Moments before the wild animal pounced on the Doberman, the dog awoke. Seeing the huge wild car startled him. It took a moment for the just awakened dog to realize what he was seeing in front of him.
The Doberman had no chance to defend himself from the quick and brutal attack. The mountain lion jumped on the dog. As mountain lions reflexively do, he tried to lock his powerful jaws around the dog’s neck.
The dog was unable to run away. His only option was to fight back. The two grappled on the ground, each unleashing their fury. It was like a battle of the Titans.
But because of the mountain lion’s superior strength and size, he quickly overpowered the dog. The mountain lion clamped his massive jaws on the dog’s neck. The Doberman continued his struggle to get free.
Minutes passed by and the struggling dog was weakening. At one point, the Doberman stopped moving. The mountain lion thought the dog was dead and loosened its grip.
When the dog realized that he had a chance to fight back, he quickly stood up and went on the offensive. This action caught the mountain lion off guard, prompting it to run away.
Bleeding and wounded but still alive
The dog’s owner found the dog bleeding and wounded. They rushed the badly wounded dog to a vet where he received around 60 stitches.
