Trooper Rescued Man and Dog from Submerged Car

On a Sunday near Pawleys Island, L/Cpl. Marshall received an urgent call. It was about a man and his dog trapped in a car sinking into a pond.

With only a little over a mile between him and the scene, Marshall rushed to the location. There, he found the vehicle almost completely submerged in water.

The situation was dire. The only part of the car still visible above the waterline was the back window. Without hesitation, Marshall jumped into the pond and began working to free the trapped occupants.

He managed to break out the back window but struggled to locate the driver. The man was stuck and unreachable through the driver’s side door.

Midway Fire Rescue soon arrived and assisted Marshall in the rescue effort. Together, they were able to pull the driver to safety through the passenger side door. Meanwhile, the dog managed to escape the sinking vehicle and make its way to shore.
